What Medigap Plan N Don't Cover?

Medigap Plan N does not cover Medicare Part B’s deductible or any Part B excess charges. As stated above, you might have to pay a $20 copay for doctor’s visits and $50 for ER visits if you are not admitted as an inpatient. Part B deductible is 226$ in 2023, and monthly premium costs can range 120$ to 180$ a month. However, in some countries, it can be as low as 70$. Your monthly expense can depend on several factors like your ZIP  code, age, gender, tobacco usage, etc. To determine how much your costs will be talk with an insurance company agent first. This allows you to receive full coverage of many other expenses that you would normally be responsible for. It also keeps your monthly premium lower than extensive Medicare Supplement Insurance plans.

Medicare Supplement Plan N Eligibility

Like other Medigap plans, you are eligible for Plan N as long as you are enrolled in Original Medicare. It’s best to purchase a Medicare Supplement during Medigap’s open enrollment period, which starts on the first day of the month that you are 65 or over and enrolled in Medicare Part B.

During open enrollment, you are typically guaranteed eligible to enroll in the medicare supplement insurance plan of your choosing — even if you have preceding health conditions. If you are enrolled in Original Medicare, you will also not be charged a higher premium for any aforementioned health conditions.

But, you can apply for a Medigap Plan at any time. However, if you do not enroll during the Initial Enrollment Period when you are first eligible, and your Part B coverage becomes effective you would need to answer health questions. The provider then might turn down your application based on health conditions.
