Resolute Health Hospital and Medicare
Resolute Health Hospital does participate with many Medicare insurance products. There are three types of coverage you may have, and Resolute Health Hospital works with all of them, although you will need to check into the specifics of your plan to ensure coverage. Let’s review the three types of Medicare options and how Resolute Health Hospital participates with each one.
Original Medicare
Every individual new to Medicare starts by enrolling in Original Medicare. Original Medicare includes Parts A and B. Part A provides your hospital insurance, which helps pay for your room and board expenses during a hospital stay. Part B provides your outpatient insurance, which helps pay for various services like surgeries, diagnostic tests, durable medical equipment, some drugs, visits to your doctor, and many preventive services.
Most healthcare professionals and facilities accept Medicare, and it can be used all over the country. If a provider has agreed to “accept Medicare assignment,” that means that they have decided to provide service for the fees set by Medicare. If you see a provider who does not accept Medicare assignments, you may pay up to 15% more out-of-pocket. However, this is not common. Resolute Health Hospital accepts Medicare assignments.
Medicare Supplements
A Medicare supplement is one way to “supplement” your coverage from Original Medicare. Since Parts A and B do not pick up the entire cost of services, a Medicare supplement can help pay for the leftover expenses. There are ten supplements to choose from, the most popular being Plans F, G, and N.
If your physician accepts Medicare, they will also accept your Medicare supplement, no matter which insurance carrier you purchased it from. There are no “networks” associated with Medicare supplement plans.
Medicare Advantage Plans
We start talking about networks when we get into Medicare Advantage plans. A Medicare Advantage (MA) plan will replace Original Medicare. If you enroll in an MA plan, you’ll get your benefits from the private insurance company instead of the government. MA plans often have a low monthly premium and offer extra benefits not found in Original Medicare or supplement plans.
The biggest drawback is that MA plans require their members to seek care within the plan’s network. If you live in an area where many providers participate in these plans, that requirement is not much of an issue.
